Ouch!!

Five weeks off of travel and of course I forget the freakin socks!! so I go hit up the treadmill at the new hotel I am staying at in Sacramento. I moved from the Marriott (great hotel where I accumulated enough points for four nights in Greece) to the Sheraton (where I plan to accumulate nights for a more exclusive getaway to Fiji). Anyway, so I go down to the gym and am enjoying the reflection of the pool on the window in front of the treadmill, it gives the illusion that I am running on water and I just can't get over it. The zen feeling of running on water is awesome, so I crank up the heavy metal and run FASTER!!!

All the old guys are staring at me as they nurse their bodies... and I am having a good time. My left foot has a tinge of pain on one of the toes but the 9mph pace is cool and I finish the hour with no problems.... Then I get off the treadmill and wholly crap that hurts! My toe hurts like all get out as I limp my way to the elevator, limp my way back to my room, and discover a NASTY blister on my foot that has my whole foot covered in blood. Luckily I find a band aid in my bag and bandage myself up, this was only the first morning of my stay and I had a couple more to go. I was going to be limping all week!!

Good thing that I was planning to be home the week after to recover nicely as traveling this week would have sucked. Needless to say I didn't get a long run in on Sunday, but I am back to 9mph and am hoping to hit 9mph+ for an entire hour Friday!

Back to travel

by Josh on January 8, 2012 0 Comments

Going back to travel next week. We'll see if my workouts pickup or slow down. I did get some of my runs in this week, but again got sick on Friday so had a short run Thursday and a shorter run today. Still keeping up, but not making progress...

Happy Holidays!

by Josh on December 22, 2011 0 Comments

Happy Holidays everyone!! The days only get longer from here (which means more daylight to run in). I hope that your holiday is as enjoyable as mine looks like it will be.

Things are getting back on track with my training. With the holiday coming up, I wanted to get this post out there as I am not sure if I'll be running Sunday and if I do... I am not sure if I'll have a chance to post. Either way, I am not going to go for the full 20m!! I think I'll be happy to get a solid 16 miles in and ensure that my adductor strain is healing properly. I got a solid 12 miles in today (12.1 miles in 89min) on the treadmill. This works great for listening to longer podcasts for the first hour and then crank up the speed a bit and put some tunes on for the next 30min. Plus it is great for the cold weather, bathrooms, & food.
